(or [lang id =1028]三摩鉢提); [lang id =1028]三摩拔提 (or [lang id =1028]三摩跋提); [lang id =1028]三摩越 samāpatti, attainment, arrival; defined by [lang id =1028]等至 and [lang id =1028]等持 which is intp. as complete (sa) dhyāna; similar to [lang id =1028]三摩半那 (sa) samāpanna, attainment. Eitel says: "a degree of abstract ecstatic meditation preparatory to the final attainment of (sa) samādhi." Clough speaks of eight (sa) samāpattis, i.e. attainments-- "eight successive states induced by the ecstatic meditation." v. also [lang id =1028]三摩越.
